Starch residue is the main by-product of agricultural products such as cassava, potatoes, and sweet potatoes after starch production. Due to its high moisture content and high viscosity, when using traditional drying process equipment, if the drying temperature is too high, it will cause the starch to gelatinize and undergo a chemical reaction, generating dextrin that blocks the pores of the material particles. This prevents moisture from evaporating, causing the particle surface to turn yellowish-black, which seriously affects the sales of dried residue. If the drying temperature is too low, phenomena such as material adhesion to the dryer wall, gelatinization, and clumping will occur in the dryer, preventing the drying equipment from operating normally, which will result in losses for customers. The Dingli starch residue dryer, developed based on the characteristics of raw materials such as cassava and potato residue, and combined with the production experience of multiple sets of dryers, can reduce the moisture content of various potato residues to below 10% in one go.
It works as follows: Material with a moisture content of 75%-85% first passes through a dedicated dewatering machine to remove part of the moisture, with approximately 68% of the water removed. It is then conveyed by a screw conveyor into a dryer for subsequent drying. Under the action of internal flipping plates, the material is continuously lifted, dispersed, and moves forward in a spiral manner. A mixing and stirring device thoroughly stirs and crushes the material. The material undergoes full heat exchange with hot air, causing moisture to quickly evaporate and vaporize, reducing the moisture content to about 35%. After being discharged by a screw conveyor, the material is sent to a semi-wet material crusher, where the particle size of the crushed material is less than 1mm. It then enters a pulse fluidized bed drying process. The dry powder recovered through a cyclone discharge device and a pulse bag dust collector rapidly reduces the moisture content to 10%. The exhaust gas emission meets national standard requirements, thus completing the entire drying process. A cylinder cleaning device is installed inside the cylinder to prevent material from adhering to the cylinder wall.
